Dawn's Digression.

Saturday morning I was planting my little seedlings outside. The weather was absolutely wonderful. Maybe not ideal, but wonderful nevertheless. Girlfriend was out playing racquetball with her friend and I was alone. It was really quiet. Anyway, I was in the middle of planting my peppermint, I had just dug a hole in the ground and I saw this thing wiggling. It was a cocoon. I watched a moth come out of his cocoon. When he stepped out, he was a little shaky, I thought. He walked really slow. I felt sorry for him. Poor Mr. Mothy was really tired. He would walk a little bit, and then flip over on his back and kick his little legs in the air. I got a stick for him to grab on to so he could turn over. (didn't want to contaminate him with human germs!) He kept flipping over, and I kept helping him. I even moved him when I was planting to make sure I wouldn't crush him or disturb his rest. THEN the little bastard starts crawling towards my peppermint. I moved him away. He crawled back. We played this game twice. The third time I said, "Look. You're cute and everything, but you're not touching the peppermint." I moved him OUT of my garden. I worked for a few more minutes. Then I looked up and Darcee (the dog) was standing right where I had put the moth. Hmmm. I betcha anything that dog squished my moth. After all that hard work! The nerve!
