Become You - My First Impression
After calling all over town this morning, I finally found somewhere that had a bonus CD (Borders), and I went on my lunch break to pick it up. I'm offering my first impressions of the CD, but my opinions may change as I listen to the CD. I find I am fluid in which are my favorite IG songs, dependent upon what is happening in my life at the time.
'Become You' shocked me when I heard it on the CD. It sounded completely different live, and I'm sad to say the live version is a lot better to me. I agree with Scott that BY lost a lot of it's fire on the CD. I can't seem to pinpoint the word I'm looking for. All I can come up with is 'happy'. I think it's the penny whistle that turns me off. (Is that what that is? Please forgive my ignorance!) I also am not all that moved by SSM. I wanted to be because of the subject matter, but I'm just not there.
I liked CONS okay, but I had to listen to it several times for it to grow on me. I did fall in love with POL and Faye Tucker imediately, though. I never did really get into 'Andy' or 'We Are Together'. I loved SOTS.
Bitterroot is wonderful, and so is the intro to Nuevas Senoritas. So far my favorites are Hope Alone, Starkville, and Moment of Forgiveness, and Collecting You. Wait~ I also like Deconstruction. hehe Perhaps it is too early for me to pick my favorites.
But I agree with what seems to be the majority, that this CD is a fantastic revisitation to what we love most about our Girls - their harmony.
