Dawn's Digression.

Did you know that today is Johann Sebastian Bach's birthday? He was born in 1685 - he would be 317 years old. He died in 1750. He also had a son named Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782) who was also a composer.

I didn't know this. What did Johann Christian Bach write? Does anyone know? I don't know much about classical music at all. I took Intro to Music several years ago, but I'm sorry to say that the only thing I really carried from the course was the term 'baroque'. I don't even remember who is considered Baroque. I know Mozart is not. But Jewel says something about someone being 'baroque' and loving Mozart in the same sentence. Ah! I looked it up on Yahoo!. Pachelbel is Baroque. I really love Canon in D. Love it. Ya know, now there is something I've reminded myself I don't know. I want to know. Enquiring minds want to know (Do you remember that commercial for the Enquirer? That's why I spelled 'inquiring with an 'e'). Do you ever run in to things that you don't know and then become angry that you don't know them? I do. I do it alot. There is so much to know! And so little time. Okay, make that so little effort. This is why I like books. What I need is a nice big picture book of composers, divided by style. With little buttons you press and it plays a part of the tune. You know, like those books for kids. I have an idea! I think it's marketable. Wow. Really. If you see one of those books somewhere, buy one for me. I'll pay you back. Or at least let me know you found one.
