The Friday Five
I was just reading Robyn's blog, and she reminded me I haven't done the Friday Five in ages.
1. Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it? Yep. Her name was Sarah Nall and she lived across the street from me.
2. Are you still in touch with this person? No. Once she found out I was a lesbian, she decided she would rather make fun of me than be my friend. Some friend.
3. Do you have a current close friend? Yes, I do. More than one. I have a friend for each mood. ;)
4. How did you become friends with this person? Various. Met one in Junior High, one from Yahoo! Personals, one from PlanetOut personals, one through the friend I met in Junior High, and one at work. These are in no particular order.
5. Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why? There are tons of them that I'd like to know what happened to them. Particularly, Madison Jones, Jim Olschefski, and Ginger McCall.
Last week's Friday Five:
1. What were your favorite childhood stories? I don't remember having a particular favorite. I loved Beverly Cleary and read everything I could get my hands on.
2. What books from your childhood would you like to share with your children? Socks by Beverly Cleary. I really hope that my child enjoys reading. You learn so much when you read!
3. Have you re-read any of those childhood stories and been surprised by anything? I re-read Socks and Katie John. I've been wanting to re-read Little Girl Lost, but can't find the right book. It was about a little girl who was killed by someone (can't remember all the details). The story follows her big sister as she tries to find out what happened. It involved past life regression and stuff. Awesome book. Maybe I'll search Amazon. Hmm. I'd like to read Jacob Have I Loved again. That was good.
4. How old were you when you first learned to read? I have no idea. Pretty sure I was average.
5. Do you remember the first 'grown-up' book you read? How old were you? The Shining. I read that while I was staying with my grandparents in a converted farmhouse. It was creepy as hell.
