Dawn's Digression.

Alex's graduation was last night. He was so cute. I guess. I couldn't see him from where we were sitting. But I did hear them call his name and see him walk across the stage. That was a very long graduation. One of the teachers got up there and talked for 15 minutes. No kidding. They even had the class Historian talk about every year of their life since preschool. It was a real snooze fest. Afterwards, some of us went to Olive Garden to eat dinner and give him his gifts. I was afraid he would hate my gift, a monogrammed towel with elastic for him to take to A&M with him. But he seemed to like it quite a bit. He even liked the overly sentimental card I gave him. And of course, the money. That kid has always enjoyed cash. So I guess my baby brother is all grown up now.

I had a bad dream the other night. That was the first time in my life that I have sobbed so much in a dream that I woke myself up crying. I dreamed that Granny was alive. We were driving to a place where they were going to euthanize her. I was in the back seat, she was in the driver's seat. I leaned over the the back of the front seat and put my arms around her. I was so happy to get to hug my Granny. I knew that I wouldn't get to hug her again and so I was happy and sad all at the same time. Then we got to this place --whatever it was. My aunts and uncles disappeared with my Granny. That's when I started bawling. In my dream, I was on my hands and knees on a hardwood floor crying, "My Granny, my Granny...." That's when I woke up. I think I must have had the dream because we had our first family gathering (well, the first one I could make it to) over the weekend.

I've actually seen Michelle and Eric. I talked to Michelle about a week or so ago to invite her to my parents. They don't usually go to family functions, but I thought it would be really nice to see them. And then they went to dinner with us last night, which I thought was weird since her mother didn't go. But it was nice to see her and catch up.
