Okay. I'm taking a break. Work is wicked busy today.
Let's do the first day of vacation.
Tuesday
Monday night after I arrived I took the rail to downtown Portland and met Michele at the hotel.
Then we had a drink with some of her co-conspirators. I crashed as soon as my head hit the pillow. Tuesday morning we got up and began the drive to Forks, WA. We got stuck on I-5 not yet out of Portland. The highway was at a complete standstill. People were getting out of their cars and walking around. The lady in front of us told us the bridge was up. This is curious to people who live in Texas. Our bridges do not 'go up'. We finally got across that danged bridge and stopped at Burger King for breakfast. I was excited because you can get veggie burgers at Burger King up there. I vowed
to try one before we left, but I never did. Well, I had a veggie burger, but not at Burger King. We made our happy little drive along the Washington coast. After driving for about 4 hours, we came to a sign that said "Beach 1". We pulled over. Here are pictures of Beach 1.
It was getting to be evening, so we decided we needed to keep on driving and check in to our cabin for the night. Well, we got to the cabin, and they had double booked it! They sent us to another cabin for that first night. Michele was a little miffed. I would have been if she wasn't, but someone must be sane at all times. So, they found us another place. Here are those pictures.
Not impressive, hunh? Well, this was the NICE cabin. You should have seen the one we actually stayed in! At least this one had a tv. We went to the grocery store and then came home and watched tv. I fell asleep in the recliner about 11:30 while some stupid cop show was on (I hate those). We were excited we were able to catch American Idol. The grocery store was so funny. They sold everything there. Clothes, camping gear, sewing stuff...you name it. And the people were absolutely NOT pretentious. I'm not sure I even would have been out wearing what some of those folks were wearing. I guess I'm not as much of a small town girl as I like to think I am. I need someplace with that has the minimum of a Wal-Mart. Self-realization sucks.
I'll show you the lesser grade cabin probably tomorrow. The next day was a long one. ;)
