Dawn's Digression.

Hmmm. What first? Birthday or vacation. Let's go birthday since it's more timely.
Saturday I ended up going to get my hair highlighted. It's O.K. Not spectacular. I cannot get it to lay down like the hairlady did. How do they do that, and why can't they teach me? Next time I think less highlights would be better. After that Michele and I went to Saltgrass with my parents. Dinner went off without any weirdness. For me, anyway. Mom did ask if we were mad at each other. I assured her we had been on speaking terms for at least a few days. ;) That seemed to loosen up Michele, though. She put her arm across the back of my chair. I'm sure my parents make her wiggle in her chair a bit.
Sunday. She went and got us kolaches. Then we watched some tv. We took some of her softball stuff to storage (Thank GOD.) and went to the grocery store. Then we had a nasty fight. Probably the worst we've had. We need to talk about it, but I'm putting it off. Both of us really should have handled the whole thing differently. As I may have mentioned before, one of the things I love most about Michele is her ability to make up. She's good at it. She isn't overcome with pride. Not to say that she gives in. Not at all. (dammit) She just lets it go. So we let it go and I got to open my presents then I had Taco Bell.
My first present was 2 books about otters from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. How sweet is that? One was The Insiders Guide to Monterey Bay Aquarium and the other was some fact book about Sea Otters. I can't find it anywhere online. I wonder how much time she spent looking for it?
My next gift was a book light. It's the 'itty bitty booklight' and it rocks. You can plug it into the wall or use a battery pack. She doesn't like it because it has a cord attached. I don't like that, either, but it's better than replacing batteries once a week. And you know I'd be out of batteries and at a GREAT place in the book when the light went out. I've wanted a book light for years. Now I can read when she starts snoring. (Her snoring isn't that bad, in her defense.)
Well, I'm off to a meeting. I'll tell you about the rest of my stuff this afternoon.
