Thanksmas: Long Version, Vol 1
I just got home from Rachel & Suzy's. They invited me over to watch the season finale of Nip/Tuck. It was good! As though I expected something different. Anyway, I've turned on my Rod Stewart American Songbook and taken my sedatives. I figure while I'm waiting to pass out I can maybe blog for a few minutes.
I went with R&S to see Narnia the other day. I wish I hadn't known ahead of time that it had religious undertones because I spent most of my time trying to figure out what was being alluded to. I was doing pretty good until they brought up the whole 'earth, air, fire, water' thing. Then I was confused. Hunh? I have no business watching something like that without an interpreter. I was wishing my friend Melody was there to tell me what in Sam Hell they were talking about. I suppose it was okay, though. I didn't expect to love it, so it's all good.
Thanksmas.
Thanksmas was fun. This is probably partly attributed to the karaoke that occurred. I was showing the kids how to work the karaoke machine. Next thing I knew the kids had all run off and I had my aunts and uncles. hehe In true Thanksmas fashion, I got a gift I really didn't want, and once again, I could have cared less.
You know, I was going to go for the painless version, but I have a feeling I won't be asleep for awhile, so why not bore you to death? *shrug*
Okay, so this is the aunt that has serious issues with my lifestyle. Let me tell you what she did. Man, this is a long story. I don't tell Lu about a lot of things that happen in my life. To be honest, she's kinda scary. Sweet. But fierce. My mom told Lu that I had left Michele, etc, much to my mortification. Lu walked up to me and gave me the biggest hug EVER. She asked how I was and when I said "fine" she pulled back, looked me right in the eyes and asked how I really am. Sweet. She's eating my cousin's pumpkin roll, which was really good, Wendy. Bring your (un)happy butt home. You know what else Lu did? She made a dessert Wendy and I had been talking about that was my great-grandmother's recipe. We had been emailing about it and she didn't tell any of us she has the recipe and just showed up with it. :) Yay, Lu!

Alex and his girlfriend, Carly. She is sweet as pie. I like her. I hope she sticks around awhile. She knows Alex will be in the military for 6 years and hasn't run off screaming, yet. We like her.
My cousin Michelle and her baby Kenneth. Most folks who know me in person know my cousin. The girl sitting next to her is Michelle's baby sister, which makes Carole my cousin. Hard math, hunh? These are George's children. You may need this info later.
Let's just do George now. He's the guy below. The lady he is with was one of Granny's best friends from high school. We have invited both of Granny's best friends to Thanksmas every year since she died. They enjoy being included and we love having them there. I'm not saying anything else about that.
Back to George. George is my mom's brother. He was 14 when I was born and we grew up in the same house. We were incredibly tight when I was a kid. He married Michelle's mother and started his own family, but we were still pretty close. Once I came out in the most obvious way, I lost Georgie a little bit. He's been very distant the last several years. I would almost go so far as to say 10 years. Anyway, he was so sweet to me on Sunday. He interacted with me a lot more and gave me lots of those really strong hugs. Not the wuss ones. ;) Sorry about the crappy photo. I dunno what my camera did.
Dude. I just lost a really long post. I shall hit Post now.
