Bette

I was wanting to blog all day yesterday, and I was so slammed at work it's pitiful. I wanted to share some joy.

I slept through the night Wednesday night and last night, too! It sounds silly, I'm sure, but it has been too long since I've slept all night without waking up. I was still tired yesterday, but much less so than I've been.

Last night was the Bette Midler concert. Michele, Rachel, my mom, Rachel's mom, and I went. My mom had never met Rachel's mom, so that was kind of interesting. In a non-eventful way. I hadn't seen Janet in three and a half years, and I was really glad to see her. I asked Rachel to tell her to bring me some of her fabulous banana pudding, but alas, she did not.

We got lost on the way to the concert. Ugh. I was trying to read the directions while I was driving, plus I have night blindness, so I took a couple of wrong turns. Then, after we parked and we were walking up to the building, Michele lost a contact. Unfortunately, Michele is all but blind without her contacts. Once we got in our seats she said she was okay thanks to the binoculars we brought and how you can adjust them. Our seats were way up in the nosebleed sections. You know how they have those screens to the left and right of the stage? Ours was blocked by the projector thing. Kinda sucked. The concert was really nice. As much as I hate to say it, this was not the best concert I've ever been to. It's nothing against Bette, though. It was still awesome and I was not disappointed. Maybe I was just too far away. Michele liked the Cher concert much better. She could identify with the style more readily. Bette is very....cabaret and sings a lot of things you've never heard. Of course she sang, Wind Beneath My Wings. Ugh. I'm not just a huge fan of that song. It was pretty much ruined for me at funerals. First Reesa (another story for another time) and then Granny. My mom left right after she sang Wind Beneath My Wings. I'm not sure if she was upset or she was just ready to go because her knees hurt. I thought her knees hurt and she was trying to beat the rush. Michele thought she was upset. She had to have known it was coming. A~, I was really excited because she sang, "I Think It's Going to Rain Today" from Beaches. I love that dang song. We thought it was strange she had the perfect set for "Under the Boardwalk" and didn't sing it. All in all, it was fun, I'm glad I went, and I'll go again if/when she comes to Dallas again.
