Dawn's Digression.

I had a very busy weekend.

On Saturday, Michele and I went after work to the Sears Outlet. We got there at 7:08. They closed at 7:00. Unfortunately, the store is clear on the other side of town. That sucked. So then we went to a little cafe because I was jonesing for chicken fried steak. The only thing between the smoking and non-smoking section was a half wall. We were sitting right next to the wall, so we might as well have been in smoking. But it wasn't too bad.

Saturday we got up and went to get me a bra for my dress. Easier said than done, friend. But luckily, a friend at work had recommended a place to us. I haven't gotten dressed in front of so many people in my entire life. The lady comes INTO the dressing room with you and helps you put it on. I tried to act like I didn't care that I was standing there basically naked in front of a complete stranger. I had to take off my pants because I was putting on my dress, and somehow shorts and the dress aren't going to work together. I tried on two different bras. The lady took the bra I chose and went and had it altered. Right then. No kidding. 10 minutes later I walked out with a $49 bra. But it's got the boning and everything. Better than the $58 dollar corset I bought last week and still haven't taken back.

Then we went to get rings. We ended up with something completely different from what we had been looking at. We compromised in order to get matching rings. Mine is white gold, hers is two tone. I can't find a picture of it online, otherwise I would post it for you.

THEN we went to that Sears outlet again. Found a refrigerator. Got the little sales guy, started setting up the delivery time. They could only hold it until Wednesday. We don't close until Thursday. Long story short, we wasted MANY hours going to that stupid outlet, only to eventually find the SAME refrigerator at the regular Sears store at the same damned price. Good Lord. It's a small guy, though, only 22 cubic feet, which is still bigger than the one we have. AND we get ice in the door. Woo-hoo! Crushed ice! Then we went home and got Taco Bell.

Sunday I had a family function and then packed. I didn't get to bed until after 2am, and even then I couldn't sleep. It's amazing the things you think about at 2am. I tried to remember them so I could blog today, but alas, I can only remember one thing. Last night when I finally came to bed, Michele was already sleeping. We sleep the same way every night. She sleeps on her back and sticks out her left arm, and I put my head on her shoulder. We always sleep like that. But last night when I went to bed, I just laid down beside her and held her hand. She let go of my head and stuck her left arm out. Even in her sleep, she assumes the same position. I wonder if 30 years from now, we'll sleep the same way. You know how babies have that grasping reflex? The one where they grab ahold of your finger automatically? She does that. If I put my hand against hers while she sleeps, she grabs my hand. It's so cute. If anyone had told me 3 years ago I would be marrying her, I'd have laughed directly in their face. Hell, I'd have laughed if someone said I would even be dating her. We're such an unlikely pair, I think. Yet somehow it works.
