Today Granny was moved to a hospice. Mom said it is a nice facility. More like a home. Mom sounded a million times better on the phone. Lately she has just sounded so beat down, but today, she was upbeat. I can't even imagine.. Can you? I mean, your mother is dying, and she is in the hospital with no one and nothing she knows. That's not right. So, they moved her out closer to family.
It looks like Granny probably won't make it all that much longer. They said originally 4-6 months. Now, it is probably closer to 4-6 weeks. Just a guesstimate. But she quit eating about a week ago. Mom said she did eat today, though, after they moved her. Apparently this place is really family-oriented. There is a bed in the room that someone can sleep on....like a real bed, not a cot like the hospital had. And there is a playground outside for children. Also, a living area with a TV. So, it's like a house, and then some bedrooms. She has her own room, which is important to us. I'm going to see her Saturday morning, and I'm a little anxious about it. When I talked to Mom, she more or less warned me that she isn't doing well.
